WATER BRIGADES
WHAT IS A WATER BRIGADE ?
Water Brigade volunteers assist in implementing clean water systems to prevent water related illnesses in communities with limited access to clean water. Volunteers will work alongside community members to construct the new water system. Such as building the dam, tank, or cistern, and/or working on the piping system by digging trenches. They will also present an education workshop to students of the primary school by collaborating with members of the Basic Sanitation Committee. These topics vary but usually include themes such as basic sanitation practice, safe water storage, water conservation, watershed protection, and more.
HONDURAS BRIGADES
meet Caleb
Hello, my name is Caleb. I am a senior at DePaul studying Health Sciences with a Medical concentration and a Chinese minor. I eventually hope to go to graduate school and become a Pathologists’ Assistant. I started volunteering with Global Brigades my sophomore year when I participated in two brigades to Nicaragua. This year, I really wanted to contribute more to this wonderful organization and give others the opportunity to have the same eye opening and life changing experience that I had. I now have the opportunity to do that as a co-Program Director for the Water brigade to Honduras. I’m looking forward to getting started and, of course, working hard in Honduras.
