MEDICAL BRIGADES

WHAT IS A MEDICAL BRIGADE

The Medical Brigade to Honduras develops sustainable health initiatives and provide relief to communities where there is limited access to healthcare. Medical Brigades work closely together with licensed medical professionals to provide quality healthcare to local people. Volunteers spend one week in a community in rural communities, shadowing doctors and pharmacists, assisting with in-take, triage, medication packing, and health education.

Hi! My name is Connor and I will be a junior at DePaul studying Psychology with a concentration in Healthcare and a minor in Biological Sciences. I joined Global Brigades in Fall 2017 and went on my first Medical Brigade to Nicaragua which made me fall in love with the organization and it's role in creating self-sustainable communities. I'm now fortunate enough to be a Co-Program Director for the Medical Brigade to Honduras and can't wait to see the process all the way through.

My name is Xuan, and I'm a Neuroscience major with a minor in International Studies. I want to potentially do international work and make my way to work with Medicins Sans Frontieres/ Doctors Without Borders. Global Brigades have provided me the chance to be an impact, and grow professionally and personally. I love GB's commitment to the hollistic model, ethical volunteering, being an agent of change, surrounding myself with like-minded people with the same passion.
