GLOBAL BRIGADES
AT DePAUL
ABOUT US
Global Brigades is the largest student-led global health and sustainable development initiative in the world. Global Brigades works in Honduras, Panamá, Ghana and Nicaragua. Through Global Brigades, student volunteers participate in one to three week long skill-based, service trips, called brigades, to address health and development challenges in rural communities. There are currently nine different types of brigades students can participate in, each doing sustainable development projects related to that area of skill.

Co-President
I am a Junior at DePaul University studying Psychology with a double minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict studies and Public Health! My first brigade as a Freshman was a Medical/Dental and Public Health hybrid to Nicaragua. I feel in love with the structure of Global Brigades and it’s focus on working with communities in order to empower its members to lead their own development towards self-sustainability. I knew GB was something I would want to participate in throughout my years at DePaul, and since my freshman year I have been on three brigades and three E-Boards!! I can’t wait to see how much our chapter grows during my time as Co-President!
meet Sellars
Hi! My name is Sellars and I am a sophomore at DePaul studying Public Relations and Advertising. I recently went on my first brigade to Honduras for Public Health this past winter break and fell in love with GB! I wanted to join the E- Board so I could be more involved and work with other students who are passionate about GB. I am looking forward to raising money so more students can go on brigades and working alongside the rest of the E- Board!

Recruitment / Education
Hi, my name is Christian Pompa and I am a junior at DePaul majoring in Neuroscience. I went on my first brigade in the winter of 2016 and absolutely loved experiencing the people and country of Nicaragua. After a couple of months into 2017, I decided I wanted to play a bigger role in GB and I did so by accepting the position of co-Program Director of the Spring Break Medical brigade in 2018. Being in the recruitment and education position will be amazing because I want more people to understand and be part of GB!

My name is Hannah Lloyd and I’m a sophomore this year with a major in public health and a minor in psychology. I choose to get involved in global brigades because it empowers communities and it positively impacts the lives of poor communities around the globe. There is nothing more fulfilling and heart warming than helping and getting know these communities on a personal level. This year I hold the position of co Alumni chair. My responsibilities include getting past brigaders to spend time on reflection regarding their experience with global brigades and how they can take what they learned on their brigade experience in their everyday lives.

Pre Brigade Coordinator
Hi! I'm a rising Junior at DePaul studying Public Health and Spanish, and this is my second year on the executive board. After going on the Public Health and Medical trips to Nicaragua in November 2016, I joined the eBoard as the Education & Recruitment chair. I loved the idea of education so much, that I am now the Pre-Brigade Coordinator for our trips. This is a new position, but our hope is that I will help centralize and organize pre-brigade education efforts around language, culture, history, medical triage training, and general Global Brigades info. It is our goal that everyone goes into their brigades ready to go!
